They end up in the big city, where they make lots of new friends and have lots of fun adventures before they all meet up at Tivoli Gardens for a final joint attempt to save their home.

At the same time, the town's mayor is visited by his brother, who has stolen a Van Gogh and needs money to flee. The two stories quickly become intertwined.

The Sun King
The Snooks (singular!) derives his name from the Danish expression "leaving the Snooks behind" much used by 7-year-old Eigil's parents to indicate somebody's going nuts. This being a live action-cum-puppet animation film, Eigil's own imagination turns the Snooks into an amiable gnome-like little fellow and best friend during a summer holiday. When they are being joined by a cat, the fun really begins.

Denmark in the '70s. The teenager Christoffer's parents Nisse and Maria have decided to move into a commune, because they want to try the alternative lifestyle. But Christoffer doesn't like it, and has trouble adapting. In school, the others tease him because he lives in a commune. As a plan from the elders in the commune, he starts in a Maoist group to learn about the real ways of the society. He doesn't like it, but when his new girlfriend starts to see what he does as cool he goes into it. But at the same time, the police start to suspect him to be the terrorist who blows up telephone booths around Copenhagen.

Together with his assistant, Frits, he is assigned an exam task: to get a family that no longer celebrates Christmas to start celebrating it again. A draw assigns him the anti-Christmas Andersen family (father Tage, mother Åse, and daughter Putte). They harbor a terrible secret regarding why they do not celebrate Christmas.
