New evidence has paleontologists questioning whether a third of all dinosaur species ever existed. Could some discoveries once thought to be distinct species, in fact, be the same species at different stages of development? National Geographic joins famed paleontologists—including Jack Horner, a contributing expert to the Jurassic Park films—who are challenging the long held belief that young dinosaurs looked like miniature versions of their parents.

Twenty-five hundred years before the reign of Julius Caesar, the ancient Egyptians were deftly harnessing the power of engineering on an unprecedented scale. Egyptian temples, fortresses, pyramids and palaces forever redefined the limits of architectural possibility. They also served as a warning to all of Egypt's enemies-that the world's most advanced civilization could accomplish anything. This two-hour special uses cinematic recreations and cutting-edge CGI to profile the greatest engineering achievements of ancient Egypt, and the pharaohs and architects who were behind them. Includes Djoser's Step Pyramid at Saqqara, Senusret's Nubian Superfortresses, Hatshepsut's Mortuary Temple at Dier el-Bahari, Akhenaten's city at Amarna, and the temples of Ramesses the Great at Abu Simbel.

Husband and wife team Phil and Lynne Richardson live at a water hole with lions, elephants, and baboons in the African bush of northern Zimbabwe's Zambezi Valley. Video technologies like miniature infrared cameras and lenses for nighttime vision help them capture natural behavior without interfering with the wildlife

More than 80 million years ago, the Oviraptor, a strange bird-like dinosaur, walked the sandy banks of an oasis in what is now the "Gobi in Mongolia." A creature that measured some 8 feet in length, its razor-shard claws were deadly weapons of protection for guarding its offspring from constant danger. Now join a daring expedition of scientists as they uncover a treasure trove of fossils, shattering long-held myths about this dinosaur's behavior.

Few creatures are as mysterious and captivating as the whale, and few connect with us so emotionally and spiritually. After hunting whales for generations, we have brought their widespread slaughter to an end, but these graceful giants still face threats on a number of fronts, and the battle to save them goes on. This film takes an intimate look at four types of whales: pilots, humpbacks, bowheads and orcas, through the eyes of the humans who are closest to them. From the struggle to save a pod of pilot whales in the Florida Keys to the groundbreaking work of a scientist risking life and limb in the Arctic to the controversy over military sonar, you'll go to the front lines of whale conservation.

Almost every major culture includes an ancient flood story. What if evidence of the Great Flood could be found? Join Dr. Robert Ballard, discoverer of the Titanic, on an odyssey to find the submerged truth about the Great Flood. Dr. Ballard sets off to look for ancient shipwrecks, and search for evidence supporting a controversial theory that links the legend of the Great Flood with the catastrophic flooding of the Black Sea around 5500 B.C. As his sonar scans the desolate sea floor, and robotic submersibles search the haunting darkness of the Black Sea's "dead zone," the truth begins to emerge from the murky depths of myth and legend.

Mary Poppins returns to the Banks family and helps them evade grave dangers by taking them on magical, musical adventures.

Travel to the edge of space and beyond to discover natures ultimate abyss black holes. Explore where they are found, how they begin, and how it may be possible to harness and use the power they produce. In Monster Black Holes, scientists steadily piece together the complex dynamics of a black holes birth and are also examine the growth of a select few black holes to super massive proportions that dominate the centers of galaxies. As a monster black hole swallows everything in its path, it generates energy that shapes the universe around it in powerful ways. Journey into the heart of a black hole and explore what happens to matter when it falls into a black hole, and whether the Milky Way galaxy will one day come to an end when the black hole at the galaxy's center explodes.

Despite their personal short comings, many of the Roman Empires great engineering accomplishments were introduced during the reign of the Caesars. The tradition continued under Vespasian, builder of the Coliseum, Trajan, builder of the Forum, and Hadrian, builder and possibly the designer of the Pantheon. Finally, a decade later Caracalla built a bath complex/recreation center in an effort to secure his own reputation in history.

Engineering an Empire is a program on The History Channel that explores the engineering and/or architectural feats that were characteristic of some of the greatest societies on this planet. It is hosted by Peter Weller, famous for his acting role as RoboCop but also a lecturer at Syracuse University, where he completed his Master's in Roman and Renaissance Art. The executive producer is Delores Gavin. The show started as a documentary about the engineering feats of Ancient Rome and later evolved into a series. It originally ran for one full season of weekly episodes.
